Promenade 5 – Hinterglemm
A must for an easy start of your hiking holidays! This trail leads around Hinterglemm in about one hour. The starting and finishing point for these 3.3 km is the Glemmtalerhof farm. You will partly hike on asphalt, partly on gravel and on narrow hiking trails and delight in marvellous views of the village and the end of the valley on your way. A hike for the whole family.
Zwölferkogel circular trail
A leisurely hike with 3.5 hours duration. Go up with the Zwölferkogelbahn and exit at the middle station. Over a passage of Route 8 you will reach the beautifully located reservoir. From here on you will go down to the Ellmaualm, the Hintermaisalm and the Grabenhütte over the forest roads. Over the Schwarzacherweg you will reach Hinterglemm again.
Asitzkopf
Several medium hiking trails lead through Saalbach Hinterglemm and its surrounding mountainscape. It includes the tour at the Asitzkopf. Go up with the Kohlmaisbahn and exit at the top station where the 11.2 km hiking trails starts. The Saalachtal Höhenweg leads to the Asitzkopf summit over the Wildenkarkogel and Schönleiten. After the descent to the Schönleitenhütte you will take the forest trail via Thurneralm to the middle station of the Kohlmaisbahn and go back to the valley. Five delightful hours through the mountainscape will await you.
Reiterkogel
A challenging hike which is also suitable for sporty families. Starting at the top station of the Reiterkogelbahn you will hike up to the summit over Route 5. After the Wetterkreuz the long descent begins. Reiteralm, Sonnalm and Unterreitweg will lead you to the Glemmtal road and back to the Reiterkogelbahn over Promenade 3. The 8.5 kilometres can be mastered in a little more than 4 hours.
Huts & cable cars
Wherever you hike, rustic huts and mountain restaurants will await you on your way. The food which is served there will make everyone’s mouth water. Cheese noodles, Kaiserschmarrn, hearty soups or simply a Brettljause (various cold cuts and pickles) will taste even better after a hike.
Those who would like to take a shortcut and experience the panorama quicker can simply get on one of the summer cable cars. Up to 6 lifts are also operated during summer in Saalbach Hinterglemm: 12er Kogelbahn, Reiterkogelbahn, Kohlmaisbahn, Westgipfelbahn, Schattberg X-Press and Schattberg Sprinter.
